BANGKOK, THAILAND – [05/06/2026] – Siam University proudly announces the establishment of its new chapter of Eta Sigma Delta (ESD), the International Hospitality Management Honor Society, under the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE). This milestone marks a significant step in reinforcing academic excellence and professional standards for hospitality students in Thailand.
“The establishment of the ESD chapter at Siam University demonstrates our commitment to nurturing elite talent for the global hospitality sector,” said Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, Siam University president. As the president of Sustainable University Network (SUN) Thailand, Dr. Mongkhonvanit has supported sustainable student projects such as “insect as future foods” which enabled Siam University students winning the world champion from the AFECA contest in Seoul South Korea. He added “We are empowering our students to meet the highest international standards and to lead with integrity.” As a 2020 THE Impact Ranking recognized institution for its sustainability efforts, Siam University, through this new ESD chapter, will further integrate sustainability into hospitality education, preparing students to lead the industry toward greener practices and social responsibility.
The inauguration ceremony featured opening remarks by Mr. Mark Joel Maganda, President of the ESD Student Chapter at Siam University. The event also included speeches and special remarks from Dr. Bongkosh Rittichainuwat (ESD Advisor, ApacCHRIE Secretary, and Director of International Hotel and Tourism Management, Siam University), Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit (President, Siam University), Prof. Kyungsoo Han (President, ApacCHRIE), Dr. Daniel Leung (Director of Education), Mr. Imtiaz Muqbil (Journalist, Travel Impact Newswire), and alumni representatives Mr. Sazzad Hossain and Mr. Thuya Htet Win, former students of the International Hotel and Tourism Management program.
