Dr. Shirley V. Guevarra is a Professor of Hospitality Management at the University of the Philippines, the  country’s national university, a former chair of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management. She holds two administrative positions in the University, on top of academic functions. She is Officer-in-Charge of the Office of Student Housing (OSH) and member of the University Hotel’s Board of Overseers.  In 2006, she was Director of the University’s Business Concessions Office.

Dr . Guevarra  is actively involved in  professional organizations. She is Philippine Representative and  External Secretary of the  Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA),  and also serves as associate editor of  its peer reviewed international journal, the  Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research. She is also a Board Member of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP),  and a former  Director of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP), Associate Division.
