The Experience Industry Management (EIM) Department at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, CA is pleased to announce an opening for the Department Head position.
The EIM Department at Cal Poly is the home to the following concentrations: (1) Sport & Recreation Management; (2) Tourism, Hospitality, & Destination Management; (3) Event Planning & Experience Management.
Dr. Bill Hendricks, the current department head, was recently selected to continue his leadership at the college level as an associate dean for the College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly.
Our close-knit faculty seeks an innovative teacher, contemporary scholar, enthusiastic colleague, and servant leader to continue the momentum we have generated under Bill’s tenure. With the department’s Experience Innovation Lab scheduled to open in fall 2021 as part of the Boswell Ag Tech Center, the future for the department is bright.
Join our team at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where Learn By Doing is more than a motto, and the university and its outside environs are consistently ranked among the top in the nation. We seek a colleague who understands our discipline’s roots in community engagement and social justice, and can also engage with the latest in technology, experience design, and innovative public-private partnerships. We seek an active teacher-scholar who will engage with and challenge high achieving students at the individual level, and also promote the department, college and university at state, national and international venues.
San Luis Obispo, CA is a mid-sized college town, flush with tourism and in close proximity to major cities, central coast beaches, quaint coastal enclaves, and several award-winning wine regions.
The EIM Department’s industry partners and advisory council members come from some of the top experience industry leaders in the state of California. We welcome energetic candidates who want to lead a vibrant, student-centered program, who will add to a flourishing, expanding, innovative department, and who will forge professional relationships with community, industry, and corporate leaders to further the department’s already substantial fundraising and development efforts.
Review of applications will begin July 17, 2020 with the position being open until filled. Anticipated start date is January 1, 2021.
